La-Luscious is a small independent bakery on Southend Road. Two things come out of our kitchen: bespoke celebration cakes, and traditional Chinese baked and steamed buns with sweet and savoury fillings.

The cakes are made light, with fresh cream, and finished by hand — a name piped in gold, a character cut and painted, a tier dressed in gypsophila. Nothing is pulled off a shelf.

The buns are the other half of the bakery, and the part we're quietly proudest of. Made fresh, soft, and eaten the same day.
